West Wicklow RFC Social Media Policy
Aligned with IRFU Governance Guidelines
1. Purpose
Social media is an important way for players, parents, coaches, and supporters to communicate and promote club activities. However, it must be used responsibly to protect the reputation of Blessington Rugby Football Club and the welfare of all members.
This policy outlines the standards expected when using social media in connection with the club.
2. Acceptable Use
Members should:
Use social media in a respectful and positive manner.
Promote the values of rugby including respect, integrity, and teamwork.
Share appropriate club news, achievements, and events.
Respect the privacy of players, coaches, and members.
3. Unacceptable Use
The following behaviours are not permitted:
Posting abusive, offensive, or discriminatory comments.
Criticising players, coaches, referees, or volunteers publicly.
Sharing confidential club information.
Posting images or videos that may embarrass or harm others.
Engaging in online bullying or harassment.
Online behaviour that harms individuals or the reputation of the club will be treated as a breach of the club’s Code of Conduct.
4. Youth Players and Social Media
Youth players must:
Use social media responsibly and respectfully.
Avoid posting negative or abusive comments about teammates, coaches, referees, or opponents.
Be mindful that online behaviour reflects on themselves and the club.
5. Club Accounts
Only authorised club officials may manage official club social media accounts. All content shared should reflect the values and standards of Blessington Rugby Football Club.
6. Breaches of Policy
Any breaches of this policy may result in:
Removal of inappropriate content.
Warnings or disciplinary action.
